Cerner Clinical Operations Data Analyst
Fulltime in Addison, Texas
IMMEDIATE fulltime opening for a Cerner Clinical Operations Data Analyst that is detail-oriented, organized, has great communication skills and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Will work in a variety of areas including, but not limited to application development, integration, network infrastructure, business analysis, requirements definition, building test plans, coordinating all resources and stakeholders, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring, summarizing and communicating the progress of all assigned projects. You will work among a team of project managers, developers, process improvement professionals and senior clinical leadership for support and collaboration.
DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
o Cerner or other EMR experience
o SQL reporting or Crystal reporting experience
o 3 years’ experience in application/database management
o Excellent written and oral communications skills
o Excellent project management and leadership skills
o Ability to prioritize effectively and handle shifting priorities professionally
o Server Operating System: Windows XP
o Database: Experienced in structure and modeling
o HL7 or interface experience
o Working knowledge of hospital information systems
o Background in Business Objects and Business Intelligence
o Knowledge of Midas+ Care Management is not required, but is a plus.
o Familiarity with Cerner PowerInsight, Discern Explorer, and/or Discern Analytics a plus
o Knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint is not required, but is a plus.
o Preferably some training background or experience, but not required
o Ability to analyze problems, answer questions, and provide training.
POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Work with customer and resources to identify customer requirements, and scope the effort associated with implementing those requirements.
o Work closely with Management team to plan, analyze, research and design strategies for highly complex clinical and specialized applications.
o Analyze current operational procedures, identify problems and learn specific requirements for systems. Resolve operational problems and user concerns that arise during day-to-day operations.
o Be well versed in communicating the features and benefits of the process and/or system solution, and work with the customer to implement requirements that can’t be satisfied through existing features.
o Plan projects in order to accomplish goals within constraints such as time, cost, and agreed quality standards.
o Schedule tasks, deadlines, and milestones for all stakeholders and resources using detailed milestones for all parties.
o Identify schedule uncertainties and risks.
o Implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
o Run technical portions of the project on a day-to-day basis.
o Coordinate subject matter experts, vendors, service providers, and clients to deliver milestones according to the plan.
o Code, test and document specialized language programs according to system standards.
o Prepare data for integrated and parallel testing.
o Write and maintain reports, procedures, memoranda and/or user manuals to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
o Coordinate communication between corporate and third parties.
o Document, monitor, and communicate progress on identified issues, regulatory changes, and known requests for applications.
o Provide database statistics as required.
o Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the end-user environment and systems and proactively seek methods of improvement from both a business and clinical perspective.
o Coordinate departmental information technology to include security roles, system dictionary maintenance, screen and report design, and the monitoring of data to ensure system integrity. Collaborate in designing of outcome measures and mechanisms for data collection and entry.
o Recommend, plan, test, implement, and install upgrades and conversions of applications and products to improve data integrity and functionality. Ensure appropriate integration of new applications and projects with existing production applications. Continue technical support post-system implementation and assists with additional corrections and enhancements.
o Develop team understanding of overall project, working with customers in planning and designing of new system functionality and enhancements to existing functions. Document current work flow and assess future needs.
o Analyze the needs of end-users and department staff to assure completeness of solutions.
o Ensure adherence to departmental, industry and/or regulatory standards by documenting, maintaining, and enforcing system policies, procedures, and methodologies.
o Coordinate resolution of integration issues between applications.
o Schedule and attend meetings with stakeholders.
o Explain the process and technology in the proposed solutions to stakeholders and others, when applicable.
o Learn the key clinical aspects and ensure clinical executives make final decisions.
o Articulate design rationale and function strategy as it directly relates to accomplishing goals set out, when applicable.
o Obtain, discuss, and follow-through with feedback from the stakeholder(s).
o Investigate and answer stakeholder questions.
o Support and help troubleshoot delivered work during the project and post-project.
o Ensure expectations are met and exceeded in terms of quality of product and service delivered.
