Position Summary:
The Associate Category Manager gets intimately involved in assisting the Category Manager expand product selection, merchandise the product and handle vendor communication.
Responsibilities:
• Manage existing accounts and product assortment and develop assortment growth
• Manage Open-to-buy in conjunction with Planning
• Responsible for the financial goals and results for assigned categories
• Identify business opportunities and risks in-season through analyzing sales performance and gathering marketplace information and change strategies in-season where needed
• Manage timing/flow of product, based on seasonal plans and entrance and exit strategies
• Complete department forms accurately as well as handle site merchandising of products
• Work with cross functional teams to ensure execution of sales plans, merchandising strategies, inventory control initiatives, and general information flow
• Coordinate with warehouse/distribution center to ensure efficient movement of inventory
• Manage vendor relations to include product selection, negotiation, communication and partnership development
• Responsible for marketing and promotional efforts for assigned categories
• Assists Buyer in taking on key accounts and expanding product selection
• Assist Buying group with coordination and execution of special projects as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field
• 2+ years of e-commerce experience
• Possess a clear understanding of financial measurements and how to impact them effectively
• Experience managing open-to-buy preferred
• Detail oriented with strong negotiation, analytical, multitasking, and communication skills
• Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills
• Personable, outgoing personality; quick learner; comfortable with ambiguity and a willingness to take initiative
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work with multiple teams, vendors, partners and management
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel
• Experience in the sporting industry or playing sports is a plus!
• Swimwear and footwear expertise highly desired
