Warm Planet Bikes is a specialty shop for cargo and folding bikes on Market St. in downtown San Francisco. We carry Xtracycle, Yuba, Bike Friday, Tern, Dahon, and Montague bikes.
In addition to the usual bike shop customers, you’ll be working with a wide range of people who want to carry their kids and groceries, tour in exotic places, and just get on the train without a hassle.
We’re looking for someone who understands the practical urban market, and has a passion for utility cycling. If you’re that person, we want to hear from you.
The right person will have: •Great customer service attitude.
•Retail sales experience required. Bicycle industry experience a plus, but a love of bikes is more important.
•Experience with spreadsheets.
•Be able to lift 40lbs.
•If you’ve raised your kids on bikes, that’s a definite plus.
•We have an international clientele. Let us know what languages you speak.
•We are an equal opportunity employer and are strongly motivated to increase staff diversity.
Job responsibilities: •Sell bikes, including custom configurations.
•Intake of repair jobs, minor on the spot adjustments, checkout of completed service work.
•Sweeping and dusting sales area, general cleaning and sorting, keeping retail bikes adjusted.
•Ring up purchases.
•Create purchase orders and suggest needed products.
We offer: •Employee discount after 30 days.
•½ hour paid lunch.
•2 weeks paid personal days per year.
Hours: Early risers preferred.
Minimum 24 hours per week 8:30am-2:30pm Tuesday through Friday, weekend possible. There is some flexibility on hours, but mornings are important.
Submitting your resume: Feel free to visit the shop and introduce yourself to staff, but to be considered, you will need to email your resume and set up an appointment. It’s best if you put it in .pdf format, but .doc or .txt is fine. Do not drop off a paper resume at the shop.
It pains me to have to say this, but if your resume or cover letter does not mention bicycles or job specifics, it will be assumed spam and discarded. Egregious examples will be posted on the internet for public humiliation
