We are looking for a hands-on, smart, dedicated, experienced, results-oriented Software Engineering Manager to run one of our SCRUM teams.
Focus will be on developing and maintaining our claim management software. The manager will be paired with a Tech Lead or Architect for each SCRUM and will be responsible for helping to define the direction of each group and inspiring team to deliver on complex technical projects. The ideal candidate will start as a hands-on manager and desire to grow into a more senior management role over time.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Manage one or more teams to take software to market quickly
-Project-manage technical projects from start to finish
-Write code, somewhere around 50% of your time (or more)
-Collaborate with Engineering teams, Tech Leads, Architects, and Product Managers to come up with requirements, scope, and timing for various projects
-Take ownership of team; managing and mentoring team members toward deliverables and project completion
-Work with Tech Leads and Architects to form technical vision and strategy for our product and inspire teams to deliver
-Improve team processes to increase effectiveness, improve product quality, and enhance work/life balance
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS
-6-8+ years as a Software Engineer, including architecting systems
-1+ years of technical management experience (not including Project Manager or Scrum Master experience)
-Expert-level Java skills, plus JS and REST Web Services
-Strong knowledge of EJB 3, JBoss, JPA/Hibernate, Linux
-JS framework experience (Angular, etc)
-Expert in Agile development process
-History managing team(s) of engineers, including coaching and mentoring, 1:1s, and performance reviews
-Excellent communication and team-building skills
-Ability to handle multiple tasks across multiple disciplines
-Strong knowledge in building client-server applications
-Strong desire to support and develop other leaders
HELPFUL QUALIFICATIONS
-JIRA expertise
-Spring or other MVC framework experience
-Drools or other rule engine frameworks experience
-Scrum Master certified
