Epic Magazine — www.epicmagazine.com — is looking for a summer editorial intern to join our team of storytellers. The intern will research and fact-check stories, transcribe interviews, and help create videos and short documentaries. Epic’s co-founders are producers at 20th Century Fox, so there will also be the opportunity to learn how films are produced at both the independent and studio levels.
About Epic: our writers travel the world searching for incredible true stories. Wartime romance, unlikely savants, deranged detectives, gentlemen thieves, and love-struck killers: stories that tap into the thrill of being alive. Epic can work in any medium: around a campfire, or as an article, podcast, or on the big screen. They are compelling narratives that result from months (and in some cases years) of reporting. Our goal: stories worth remembering.
What we’re looking for:
— A passion for storytelling
— Journalism or filmmaking experience
— Superior organizational and written communication skills
— The desire to be a jack-of-all-trades in a dynamic, growing organization
— An adventurous spirit
Ideal but not required:
— Documentary filmmaking skills
— The ability to shoot, edit and post content.
— Experience using online video platforms (YouTube, Vimeo, MCNs, etc)
— Photoshop / InDesign / After Effects
Time Commitment: full-time, mid-June through August
